Team Qualifying Format
In order to try-out for the team:
1. Current Physical and signed Code of Conduct must be on file with athletic secretary, Mrs. Dowling, on Monday morning, August 6.
2. Players must have $7.00 for first 9 holes on 8/6 (Monday), $14.00 for 18 holes on 8/7 (Tuesday).
3. Players must be dressed appropriately: wear a collared shirt and no jeans or cut-offs. Hats should be worn properly, bill facing forward. Remember to pack rain gear since afternoon showers are in the forecast all week long. Play will be delayed for lightning only, but not for rain.
Qualifying Format:
1. The top 12 scores out of a 27 hole total will make the team. No cuts will be made based on age or grade level; remember, however, that seniors will be eligible for varsity events only and will not be allowed to participate in junior varsity tournaments.
2. The first nine holes will be played on Monday, August 6, with tee times beginning at 2:00 p.m. from the WHITE tees. Coaches will assign tee times. Be early – no later than 2:00 pm for eligibility check and warm-up.
The second 18 hole qualifier will be played on August 7 (Tuesday) with tee times beginning at 2:00 p.m. from the BLUE tees.
3. In order to make the team, players must participate in both qualifiers listed above. There will be no make-ups or re-plays. In addition, some players may be cut after the 9 hole round based on scoring that mathematically puts their chances out of reach.
4. Coaches and attendants will be on the course to help with any questions that might arise but, for the most part, the integrity of the game and of the team is in your hands. Any questions regarding the rules or procedures should be decided by the playing group first. If disagreements remain, the rules committee (Coach Wallin, Coach Herod, and a Legacy PGA Pro) will make the final decision.
Scorecards must be signed by the Scorer and Attest at the end of both rounds. If you are not sure about the validity of the score for any reason, DO NOT SIGN the card until consulting with a member of the Rules Committee. Signing an incorrect scorecard results in disqualification.
5. Immediate dismissal from try-outs will occur for the following issues:
- Inappropriate/disrespectful behaviors towards the coaching staff or golf course personnel.
- On-course behaviors deemed abusive to other participants or to the course.
- Verified attempts to cheat or knowingly break the rules.
- Disqualification in accordance with the USGA Rule Book.
6. All USGA rules apply.
7. Maintain a steady, brisk pace of play and KEEP UP WITH THE GROUP IN FRONT OF YOU. Failure to do so could result in penalty strokes being assessed. If you hit a ball anywhere in the vicinity of the native grasses, or if you’re not sure of the ball’s location, announce and hit a provisional. If you find your original ball you may play it with no penalty incurred. If you do not find the original ball, you must assess a two stroke penalty and your provisional becomes the ball in play.
8. For qualifying rounds only, balls hit into and lost in the native grass areas will be played as a lateral drop. Instead of walking back to the location where the original shot was taken, announce and drop a new ball at the point where the ball first entered the hazard, no closer the hole. Assess a one stroke penalty.
9. No motorized carts or pull carts are allowed.
10. Good sportmanship should be exhibited at all times.
