PLTW Engineering Pathway

Engineering (PLTW) - Elective Pathway

The PLTW Engineering elective pathway engages students in the engineering design process as they identify problems, brainstorm solutions, build prototypes, and test their ideas. Through collaborative, project-based learning, students apply math, science, and technology to design solutions that mirror real engineering challenges. This pathway is well-suited for students interested in engineering, technology, architecture, or innovation-driven careers.

STEM Pathway students:

  • are uniquely prepared for a career in a specific discipline;

  • have priority scheduling to ensure they are able to take coursework in their pathway;

  • can earn a STEM letter every year;

  • can earn dual enrollment college credit (PLTW pathways, the credit can start their freshmen year);

  • complete a senior design project, internship and/or job shadow experience which may provide them an advantage in attaining admissions to selective universities and earning scholarships;

  • can earn a STEM seal on their diploma; and

  • can earn regalia at graduation.

PLTW curriculum for Engineering is research-based and highly vetted. Students can earn college credit for all PLTW classes through UCCS.
