Science is Mr. Hups passion and this passion comes from a family that spent many of their vacations combing the vast hill sides of Colorado and Wyoming looking for geologic treasures. In the past 28 years he had the priviledge of working in some of the most interesting geologic settings in the world and excavating some of the most important fossils from some of the most important paleontological locations in the world. For example the Snowmass ice age site, the Thornton Triceratops site, the Hups quarry, Como Bluff Anticline, Gaston Wells site, The Bisti Wilderness site, the Kaiparowits Syncline site in Utah, the Hell Creek Formation in Montana and North Dakota and numerous sites within Colorado and New Mexico.
Using this experience he has been able to bring active research into the classroom, exposing his students to authentic scientific research and allowing them to work with scientists from institutions such as The Denver Museum of Nature & Science.
