Mr. Leitshuh obtained a B.A. at Illinois State University in Earth, Space, and Geography education and a B.S. from the University of Colorado-Boulder in Geology. He has experience teaching middle and high school in Illinois, New Orleans, and came to NHS from Stem Launch several years ago. By incorporating various learning styles into the classroom, He strives to fully engage and cater to the diverse learning styles of all of his students. He has had the opportunity to educate a full range of learners from many diverse regions and looks forward to continuing to do so in his career.
In 2011 he attended the Texas Space Consortium at Johnson Space Center in Houston and was part of a group of 50 educators who helped create the Next Generation Science Standards for the Earth and Space curriculum. He moved to Colorado to attend the University of Colorado Boulder in order to further increase his content knowledge. While there he conducted some groundbreaking research within the Astrobiology department in search of life on Mars sub-surface. He also interned with NASA through CU-Boulder designing, running, and maintaining a rover that will land on the surface of the moon in 2021. His background in Astrogeology and Geographic Information System (GIS) has given him many new experiences; experiences that he hopes to transcend into his students. His hope for the upcoming school year is to show others how to be successful through strong leadership, mentoring, and self-paced guidance.
REMOTE LEARNING: As we move on with remote learning to start the 2020-21 school year, I will be using Schoology as my main source of communication for assignments. I will open each class day with a zoom link that you can find in our class schoology. During this time, you can ask me questions, or like always, you can email me anytime. I have included my office hours, where I will be by my computer. I hope this is helpful. I have also included the access codes for my Schoology classrooms. Please let me know if you have questions or concerns. I hope you are all well and please remember that this is new for all of us and if you are having troubles with remote learning, you should try to let me know and/or ask the question!!
Office Hours: Monday-Tuesday / Thursday-Friday 10:40-11:30am; Wednesday - by appointment

I will try to grade your work as soon as possible. PLEASE check your Infinite Campus account to check your grades regularly. NOTE: Schoology is NOT the official gradebook. You must use Infite campus to check your official class grade.
